body care

give the rest of your skin the same amount of attention.

dry brushing

  • with: dry brush

  • how: as the first step before showering, brush with light upward motions, and circular where you feel the skin needs extra circulation. the idea is to work toward the heart – start at the feet and up the legs, at the hands and up the arms, and then down the stomach.

  • why: to lightly exfoliate the skin while stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage. in ayurvedic philosophy, this meditative act detoxifies the body.

scrub

  • with: thisworks pink himalayan scrub / ouai scalp + body scrub

  • how: apply to body in a light circular motion before the shower or in the shower before cleansing to gently exfoliate the skin; allow the oils to absorb for a few minutes before rinsing. the ouai scrub can be used for the scalp as well, this I use once a week before regular shampoo/conditioner routine.

  • why: exfoliates the skin to allow for moisturizer to absorb and overall glow.

cleanse

with: archipelago botanicals rose body wash / green tea rainbath / glossier body hero wash

how: apply to a wet washcloth, which acts as a gentle exfoliator itself.

why: to cleanse the skin and remove dead skin cells after exfoliating.

epsom salt

  • with: dr. teals lavender epsom salt

  • how: add to soak in a bath or to exfoliate with in the shower.

  • why: for muscle recovery; I always use after a high intensity workout. I also love the relaxing benefit of the lavender essential oil.

moisturizer

transform your bathroom into a spa

spf

  • with: austrialian gold sunscreen

  • how: apply every single day, regardless of season/weather. uv rays are actually stronger in the winter as the sun is lower in the sky.

  • why: to keep your skin healthy!!!
